KartRider Freeway Run and MapleStory Black Friday

I honestly have no idea why the video quality is so horrible, mainly because the quality of the original file seems to be fine.

Compared to my Mesa run I thought this one was okay.  2:28 isn’t so bad for an E2 pumpkin kart, though obviously not that great than on a C1 or rookie practice kart. (Which would make it almost pro)  The run itself was alright, I had a solid first lap but got a bit sloppy on the second, plus I managed to have a brush with the wall on the first hairpin and took the last turn way too wide. (I would’ve gotten into the 2:27 range if I hadn’t done that)  That last hairpin might need more work as well.

Try to beat this time in an E2 if you can.  At this point I would say that if you can beat 2:28 in an E2 kart, you’ll have no problem beating 2:30 on the L3 license. (Since you’ll be using the L3 practice kart which is about 10 km/h faster than the rookie practice kart, and about 7 faster than the E2 karts on rookie.)

Also, the Black Friday sale on MapleStory has begun.  The items on sale keep changing with each couple of hours, so make sure you check back until you find what you want.

Just now the Mu Lung VIP hair package is on for 8000 NX. I decided that after checking to see what hairs are available there that I’d “beautify” my lady warrior:

Maple0042

Not too long after Moofey’s wife got the same package, and without knowing that I had gotten that hair on my warrior she got the same hair:

Maple0043

And, just for a bit more fun…

Maple0044  Maple0045

Maple0046 Maple0047

So there was my laugh of the day.  I haven’t been taking advantage of the 2x EXP that we’ve had over the past couple of days; I have gotten Moofey up to around 50% and I also took Moofani back to the slime tree and gained another two levels there on her.

Proof that Reporting Someone Via Customer Support Works

I have two or three other posts lined up, especially with yesterday’s KR patch and the “Big MS Messup” though I’ve been to lazy to write them.  With the absolutely HUGE 2x exp event though I might end up training, so it might be a couple of days still.

Well, I once posted here about the fast response of an in-game report once, about how I reported someone and they were banned only seconds later.  Now, I’ve struck again using the customer service system.

In case you haven’t noticed, the customer support system has a “Harassment” category.  You can use this to report users that you were unable to report in-game; just upload a screenshot to an image hosting account, (I recommend Photobucket ) then login to nexon.net and browse to their customer support section.

I’m not going to mention who this was against or when it happened, but some time yesterday after the server check there was someone who decided to advertise a pornographic shock site.  Of course they were out of my range so I took a screenshot.  Using this, I uploaded it to my photobucket and after waiting a while to ensure that Nexon didn’t already catch him, I quickly wrote in detail what happened and posted the link to my screenshot.

(Just as a note, in user abuse cases the ticket is automatically closed.  I think it’s safe to say that this doesn’t mean that it won’t ever get looked at.  Even if they did, Nexon does not contact the reporter about their judgment regarding the report.)

I periodically checked back throughout the day and saw nothing happening.  Out of curiosity today, I decided to check the rankings to see what had happened, and low and behold the person I reported was gone.

Now, as there were tons of issues yesterday, let me just set the record straight:

  • As I mentioned, this screenshot was taken after yesterday’s first server check, meaning the offending user wasn’t affected by any of the glitches, including the erroneous rank blocks.
  • The only people affected by erroneous rank blocks were those that couldn’t login after the first server check.
  • All the people that had been wrongly removed have since been put back on.

That being said, it is safe to say that the user I had reported via customer service has been banned.

Now, what could disprove this?  Well, as you may or may not know all super megaphones are logged by the server (various people from Nexon have said this) and if they catch anything wrong, such as the offense I mentioned above, they could get banned.  There is also the possibility that they never looked at my report and instead had banned him after looking at the super megaphone logs.

However, next time you see an abusive super megaphone, that you know can be brutal to tons of users, make sure to grab a screenshot and report away.  There’s no harm in doing so.

A Possible Hint of Things to Come

Yea, we all know what the main criticism is right now regarding Nexon and… let’s say level 90+ players.  I could say lower for certain jobs but 90 and up is kind of that threshold.

So anyway, we have a lot of players here that have been waiting for a better place to train as they start to near the three figure levels; More specifically, I’m talking about Leafre.

Now, this isn’t to say that Leafre and 4th job are coming soon, but this could be a hint that something for the higher levels is on its way:

I understand what you’re trying to say, but there are better ways to go about making your point.  That said, news is forthcoming.

-NxProse (Source)

Just that quote in itself can be a bit pointless, so I suggest reading more of what’s on that one page for that thread if you don’t understand what I’m talking about.

This isn’t to say that Leafre is definitely on the way, but this could be an indication that something for the higher levels is coming soon.  At the same time, I kinda doubt we’ll see anything new before the new year.

gMS Patch 0.47 – Happy Thanksgiving to the Yankees

(Canada’s thanksgiving was back in October, for all of you that didn’t know, hence the “to the yankees” part in the title.)

As I expected, it’s only Thanksgiving stuff, so I’m not surprised. People who were here last year would know all about the events, although there have been a few changes. I haven’t read up on it yet so it’s up to you guys to figure it out. All I hope is that the turkeys aren’t as bad as they were last year. (And that they aren’t replacing hectors for the next 3 months like last year as well.)

A couple of miscellaneous changes have also been made as well:

1. Gifting Function
Maple0024 You may have noticed two things on the cash shop menu went you checked to see what they released: A new area labelled “Gift Points” along the bottom, and a Gift button that’s no longer grayed out. This is their new gifting function. When you redeem a prepaid Nexon Game Card (Which you can find at… say it with me! Target, 7-11 (Hawaii), Duane Reade, CVS, Rite Aid, Future Shop (Canada), and now Best Buy.) you will get 1 gift point for every 5k that you redeem. So, if you redeem a 10k card, you’ll get 2 points, and for a 25k card you’ll get 5 points. You can use these points along with your NX to send cash items to other users. Do keep in mind that you’ll need both enough NX and enough gift points (1 per 5k being spent on the gifted item) to send the item off.

This ONLY works with Nexon Game Cards, and not PayPal or PayByCash. This is obviously to make sure no one purposely false charges then gifts items with frauded NX. (Which would of course get the receiver banned as well as the sender and any accounts that have used the offending PayPal account) So right now, if you’re playing from outside North America, you’re kinda hooped.

2. Freedom of Gender
Maple0027  For the longest time, you have been restricted to the gender that you chose when you logged in for the first time. With this patch, that is the thing of the past. At the bottom of the character creation window you will now have an option to select the gender of your character. Male accounts can now create a female character, and vice-versa.

That’s all for the patch, and now on a side note…

3. The Maple Story Mob is NOT a lie!
If you take a look at my cash shop screenshot again (it’s a bit grainy courtesy of MS Paint when I went to edit my username out) you probably noticed this:

modisnotalie

Yes, that is 1k Maplepoints from mob quests. The fact that it is only 1k though confirms that you only receive 1k per level, NOT per 5 fame. (And level 2 is not at 10 fame, so people who are whining about not receiving 2k for having 10 fame don’t have an alibi.)

And just to confirm this, NxJoe has also posted about Maplepoints and that they are being handed out now:

Just a note. The MaplePoints are issued manually to those mobsters who qualify. We just issued the first batch and should have the second batch within a day or two.

“NxJoeW”

And that’s all from me today.

Analysis Series Update

Alright, so for now I’ve decided to stop with the series for now.  I just find myself continuously pushing it back, so I will continue it when I’m ready to.
