MapleSEA to Remove the Level Cap

Not many players have gotten to MapleStory’s level 200 cap; maybe only a couple in Japan, Korea, and SEA, in MapleSEA, level 200 will not be the end of the game’s extremely long grind.  In fact, that cap is being removed altogether, or at least being raised up to 999.

For those that play MapleSEA though, it’s already old news, as a forum thread containing a newspaper interview in a foreign language was posted on Playpark, Asiasoft’s official forum, back on April 25th.

The article, although I’m no good in the language it’s posted in, apparently goes on to say that the level 200 cap has been removed, and that there will be special areas and skills for people that are above MapleStory’s original level cap, maybe also including the level 200 benefits from kMS as well.

This does bring up one question regarding gMS, however, and that is among the other versions of MapleStory where normal EXP rates are sometimes 1.2 or more times higher than ours in gMS, will Nexon ever do anything that can help ease the pain of the atrocious grind for gMS players, other than the somewhat controversial 2x EXP cards?

Maybe one day, but probably nowhere in the near future for us.

Missing: One US Kartrider

I think it’s obvious to most people that have been around the Nexon forums for a bit: It has been a month and a half since the closure of US KartRider’s closed beta and we have yet to see the launch of either the official game or another beta.

KartRider fans on the forum are livid at the fact that we have yet to even hear just how the American version is coming along since the May 31st closure of closed beta.  Now, I’m not someone to pester a company like Nexon because just about everyone on Nexon’s forum, myself included, has no idea what it is like trying to localize a free Korean online game, or how Nexon even comes around to doing it.

I, too, have been waiting for the official launch and I too am frustrated at how we’ve heard nothing since the end of closed beta.  I mean, I’ll wait for it, but it’s already been a really long silence with no communication between the developing company and the players.  I don’t know if maybe MapleStory and/or Audition have taken priority, but we all know just how awesome a game KartRider is and I’m sure people agree with me: The time between beta and official has just been too long.

I can’t really say much about MapleStory because I wasn’t around during Beta and the official launch of gMS, but it sounded pretty streamlined and people were allowed to play on Tespia quite some time after its launch back in May 2005.  However, looking back on Audition America’s website, you know how long it was between Audition Beta and Audition Official?  A day.

That being said, I honestly don’t see the logic in just how KartRider is taking so long, especially when Nexon is the original developer of the game.  Once again, I don’t necessarily understand just how Nexon works on these types of things so I can’t really criticize them for what seems to be a delay.  (As I say though, something that is not announced is not delayed.)  The most we can really do, though, is wait.

So, kudos to all you guys who have been paitently waiting for KartRider America so far, unlike the livid people on the Nexon Forums.  Let’s hope some good MapleStory content, just like in the last patch, is released in that time.
