Amidst all the fears in the eyes of Europeans with Asiasoft blocking foreign IPs from MapleSEA, and then Nexon blocking European IPs from global KartRider’s closed beta, Nexon released a statement a few hours ago in regards to both of these issues:
“As some of you may be aware, there was recently an IP Block that affects European players for KartRider, as this client is only for North American players at this time. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Concerning MapleStory, we are also aware of our European players wondering if they will be IP blocked from MapleStory Global now that the European version has launched. In short, no—however, there are a few details you need to know.
We are aware of the time you invested in your characters, and you will be able to play them so long as MapleStory Global is active. However, new European accounts will be required to sign-up for the European MapleStory service. We will announce a cut-off date in the near-future for new Europe registrations in MapleStory Global. After this cut-off date, MapleStory Global will no longer accept new European players.

So, in short, if you live in Europe:
- If you have an account on gMS, you will be able to keep using it as long as it isn’t banned
- If you don’t have an account on gMS, you can still register to play gMS until the announced cut-off date, whenever it’s announced
- After the cut-off date, no new European accounts can be made to play gMS
- The global KartRider BETA is being restricted to North America, but KartRider probably will be available to European IPs when it reaches final.
Europe, you may now breathe again.
