Boosting in KartRider

Okay, so statistics show that people looking for tips on how to boost in KartRider are constantly searching my blog, so now I shall say how to in a fairly brief post:

First off, there are five types of boosts: a starting boost, a drifting boost, a recovery boost, a nitro, and a team nitro.   I’ll go over all of them quickly.

1. Starting Boost
A starting boost is when you get a burst of speed right off of the line, and is a fairly usual tactic to use.   (At least to a seasoned Mario Kart player)  To get this boost, all you have to do is press up on or just before “START”.

2. Drifting Boost
This is the type of boost that you can get after coming out of a drift.  Unlike Mario Kart where you usually have to charge this up, you can easily execute it by pressing up just after coming out of your drift.

3. Recovery Boost
If you remember being able to get a boost after Lakitu places you back on track in Mario Kart (starting with Double Dash) this one will be easy.  When you get hit by a missile, press up just as your kart lands back on the track for a short burst of speed.  So far this only seems to work after being hit by a missle, and not with a water balloon or dragonfly.

4. Nitro
A nitro is an actual item that you can either pick up from an item box (in item races) or can gain by filling up your nitro meter when drifting. (in speed races)  Simply use when you feel it’s best to use it like any other item.

5. Team Nitro
In team speed races, successful drifts also fills up your team nitro meter.  When this fills, any nitros that you have built up become a blue “team nitro.”  When used, these will last longer than a normal nitro.

That’s all I can really say about boosting in KartRider.  Hope this helps some of you people that are looking for it.  (And hopefully you know just how simple it is to boost in this game.)

Happy 2nd Birthday gMS

Today marks two years since global MS service started. To celebrate, Nexon gave a surprise marathon 2x EXP event that started at 6 AM PDT this morning and will end at 6PM PDT tonight. Though right now the banner announcement says that there is 2x EXP from 4:00 – 6:00 PM PDT this “weekends”, it hasn’t really been confirmed if there really is any this coming Saturday and Sunday or if it was a typo for “weekdays.” (When 2x EXP and drop have already been scheduled on weekdays for the rest of the month.)

This is quite a new experience to me, as I was away in Florida this time last year and missed all the special stuff on the actual anniversary. (I came back the evening after.) It was awesome being able to train during a double EXP event and not be faced with jerks and an insane amount of lag. (I only trained about an hour and a half, maybe not even, and went from 1.4% to 20%, so it’s all good.)

Best wishes and happy mapling to everyone as gMS enters its third year of service.
