Patch 0.38 last night marked the start of the gMS 2nd Anniversary Event. Not really much else was added, but just as a little tidbit, just about everyone who keeps track of this stuff knew when they saw the world select screen.Most people might not ever come across this, but Mushroom Town is no more in gMS; it’s all been replaced with the training camp that has been in jMS for quite some time. (It was only recently introduced to eMS as well.) New users are given a bit of a background on each job, and also undertake the tutorials that were available in Mushroom town.
The anniversary event is no different from last year; cakes and candles roam around certain maps and drop presents and candles, in which you turn in for your respective quest. This year, they don’t seem to be as level-based however, so I dunno how this will have an affect on any of the lower levels. Cody’s quest, however, gives a blue maple flag this 
year, and there are numerous level 70 maple equips that now drop, including an untradeable Maple Helmet that gives a large amount of both Weapon and Magic Defense, which is good for those struggling with the new defense formulas that were implemented back in 0.35.
2x EXP and drop times are back, although in my opinion the last double rate event back at Christmas was absolutely horrible in terms of lag. These sessions start on May 11th (gMS’ 2nd anniversary) and go right until the end of the month:
2x EXP: 4:00 – 6:00 PM PDT (7:00 – 9:00 PM EDT/Midnight – 2:00 AM GMT) Mon/Wed/Fri
2x drop: 4:00 – 6:00 PM PDT (7:00 – 9:00 PM EDT/Midnight – 2:00 AM GMT) Tues/Thurs
(Note that GMT times are assuming that daylight savings time is in effect)
In addition, the higher-up GMs will be running GM events again this year, but not as random and not for the whole month. Starting around May 9th and going for a week from I think around 3:00 PM PDT until the end of their work day, (note that this isn’t very accurate cause I’m too lazy to open IE and check the website) they probably be doing what they did last year by running random GM events at the three event locations (Lith Harbor, Orbis, and Ludibrium)
So yes, if you were here this time last year, you’ve been through all this before. Not really much of anything to see here.
